Father's Day Spectacular

Today was a great Father's Day.  I started it with making Andre homemade bacon, egg and cheese McMuffins.  We then went to my mom's for an afternoon lunch.  We got to meet Arthur's daughter Kelly.  She is so nice and was great with the kids.  There was lots of dancing to my iPod which included a few Zumba moves on my part.  The girls played dress-up with Kelly and she taught Dilan the coffee grinder move!  I even did a cartwheel.

Haylee's Dorothy Braids

So here is the last of the braid pics.  Tonight I went for Dorothy braids as my mom always called them.  She does a much better job but I gave it a try.  Haylee got a bit squirmy on the left side.

Haylee's First Dutch Braid

Last night Haylee asked for another braid so this time we went with the Dutch Braid.  I can do this one much better.

Haylee's First French Braid

Last night Haylee let me French Braid her hair for the first time.  This is only because she doesn't want stray hairs catching in her new earrings.  I am loving this, ponytails, pigtails and braids!  I haven't done a braid in years so I was a bit rusty.

Follow Me To Forks

Last weekend I spent a wonderful three days in Prescott, AZ with a great group of Twilight fanatics.  We were there for our bi-annual camp wanna crop-a-lot camp.  This years theme was Twilight.  The cabin was covered in posters, we had quizzes, vampire teeth and even drank B Positive (Strawberry) Crush.  It was a blast as usual. I finished 16 pages of my own plus an 8 page 9x9 accordion album for my mom of our family trip to La Jolla.  I also made 11 hair bows for the girls.

Haylee's Right of Passage

Haylee with just the dots drawn on her ears, you can see how excited she is!
Not one tear, can you believe it?

Today marked a really special day in Haylee's little life.  For her upcoming 4th birthday she asked if she could get earrings.  I of course jumped on this idea.  Andre was not as excited but knew he couldn't say no to his Haylee Beans :)  I asked Dr. Kanagal (Haylee's pediatrician) where I should go.  Well what do you know, she does them herself.  This made us both feel very at ease that some 16 year old at Claire's wasn't going to be doing it.  For the last several weeks Haylee and I have talked all about what it may feel like.  She walked in so excited this morning with absolutely no fear.  She got up on the table with a huge smile on her face.  I was warned many times that after the first one goes in that it is very hard to do the second one, i.e. kids run away, you may have to hold her down, you have to come back the next day.  Not my Haylee though.  The first one went in and there was absolutely no reaction.  She was like a stone.  Dr. Kanagal did the second one and the same reaction, nothing. Haylee is the poster child for the easiest ear piercing ever done by Dr. Kanagal.  She said she couldn't believe it.  Haylee was the perfect example.  She made me so proud.  I asked her if it hurt.  She said no but then said, "maybe a little."  Mommy is so proud of what a big girl you are Haylee.  She looks beautiful.

La Jolla 2009

Here is Addie's lip after she fell.

We just had our fun filled vacation in La Jolla, CA.  We spent 6 wonderful days on the beach. There were lots of walks in the sand and splashing in the ocean.  The first evening started out a bit rough.  We were taking a walk in the sand and we were near the end so we got up on t Boardwalk and Addie fell flat on her little face.  Her upper lip was so swollen and cut.  She was in so much pain and up until 3am that night.  Monday was clod and cloudy but we still spent it on the beach.  That afternoon we were at the pool and met a really nice family with four kids.  I came to find out (once we were home) they were one of my friends sisters.  What a small world. Tuesday brought lots of sunshine.  Dilan got out on the boogie board with Andre's help and a about a 10 foot sea lion decided to join them.  Poor Dilan was scared to death.  Needless to say, he never took that boogie board out again.  We went to Carlsbad that night to have dinner with one of my oldest and dearest friends Shari and her hubby Dan.  It was such a fun night. Wednesday went back to the same old June gloom.  Shari decided to join us on the beach that day.  As Andre went to go get us sandwiches at The Cheese Shop it started to rain and then HAIL!  Who ever heard of it hailing on the beach?  Luckily I had Shari because she held Addie, I made sure the fancy camera was protected and Dilan and Haylee casually got under the umbrella.  Poor Andre was walking in this.  Luckily our food made it back safe, oh and Andre too.  The rain and hail stopped but it continued to be cloudy and thunder so we headed to the pool to eat.  It ended up being a fun day though.  Thursday brought Dilan's 7th birthday.  We took him to breakfast where he ordered a 4 egg omelet with bacon, sausage and onion.  He ate almost every bite.  By the time we were done the sun came out and it was beach time.  It was a beautiful day.  We spent almost the entire day there and finished it off with some pool time per Dilan's request.  We then took him to The La Jolla Shores Restaurant in the hotel.  It was a great dinner followed by an ice cream cake Andre picked-up at Haagen Dazs earlier in the day. We then took a really long walk to cap off our last evening in La Jolla.  When we woke up Friday it was of course the most beautiful day.  I took the kids to the beach for a couple of hours before our late check-out.  In all, it may have started as a crazy trip but it ended in a wonderful vacation.  I wish it would have been a bit longer.
